Serenade in Blue
“I’d rather be blue, thinkin’ of you, I’d rather be blue over yoooou..”
I hadn’t consciously realized the sheer proliferation of songs that prominently feature the word blue in them until recently. Bobby, you see, has taken it into his head to serenade me from dawn until dusk until dawn with said songs. He has yet to reveal his reasoning, but he’ll crack soon, I can see it in the slightly crazed mirth that is lurking in his eyes.
I have no doubt that Jubilee put him up to it, as my musical torment began shortly after her departure three days ago. And I will admit that it was cute at first. Blue Suede Shoes , Blue Moon , Blueberry Hill , all very nice. Blue Monday was interesting until he began alternating versions. True Blue started to grate. I find that the Material Girl is not the best of company at five in the morning. But that sinister little technopop ditty about the blue man in the blue house with the blue car? That was the final straw. No man deserves to suffer such torture for eight hours on end.
But I’ll have my revenge. I’ll fight fire with fire, you see, or rather ice with ice. There are many, many songs with the word ‘Ice’ in them. Not as many as blue, granted, but it should be sufficient. Actually two hours of non-stop Popsicles and Icicles ought to be sufficient. Or perhaps the theme from Ice Castles .
If I somehow manage to remove Logan from the mansion premises, I could pull off Ice, Ice Baby . I have no shame.
After all, he started it.
